ABOUT the CHALLENGE
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. established a fuel efficiency driving competition,
the Honda Challenge Cup, to convey the vital significance of fuel economy in
times of a crisis. This event aims to demonstrate how a fuel efficient driving
style can make a big difference.
The Honda Challenge Cup considers three main aspects as the most essential in
optimizing fuel mileage: Vehicle, Fuel and Driver. Honda is
committed in developing products and technologies that have minimal effect on the
environment. In order to reach the greatest impact on fuel economy and clean air,
Honda has always targeted the mass-market models. Honda vehicles, more than just
fun to drive, are equipped with highly efficient internal combustion engines and
are engineered to comply with the stringent European Emission Standards. All Honda
vehicles reach EURO 4 levels even if Philippine regulations only mandate EURO 2
compliance. Driving a Honda does provide a sense of social responsibility to the
environment. Having full control over the machine, fuel efficient driving is
ultimately in the hands of the driver. Proper driving skills and understanding of
the vehicle are essential factors a driver must have. Also, the use of high fuel
grade does help especially the type with special formulation that aids better
combustion efficiency.
The objective of this competition is to promote the importance of fuel efficient
driving amidst the rising price of gasoline; to help reduce harmful emissions
released into the atmosphere by burning less fuel; and to validate Honda’s
fuel-efficient and earth-friendly engine technology.
