Under its participation in the Motor Vehicle Development Program, Honda Cars Philippines has invested P1.8B in local manufacturing operations and a state-of-the-art production plant. To carry out its undertaking, Honda provides direct employment to some 800 personnel.

Honda’s entry into the Philippine Automotive Industry paved the way for the establishment of several auto parts suppliers in the country. To date, a total of 18 investors have brought in capital investments close to P4.9B and provide income to more than 6,000 Filipinos.

Dealer investors continue to increase in number. There are currently 9 Metro Manila dealerships and 12 provincial dealerships that substantially contribute to the local economies where they operate. Honda car dealers have invested over P1B and provide employment to close to 2,000 Filipinos.

Honda utilizes state-of-the-art facilities in its manufacturing operations that have set new standards in the automotive industry. One of these is a leading-edge painting facility, which involves a full-dip paint system that consists of a Cationic Electro Deposition (CED) bath, to ensure seamless coating, proper paint adhesion and total anti-corrosion.

The assembly line implements stringent measures to uphold the superior quality of Honda products. All cars are subjected to intensive inspection and testing at the Vehicle Quality section to guarantee the top condition of units upon release. A G-SWAT and headlight tester measures head and toe alignment and wheel alignment. A Brake Speed Tester checks running performance at full speed, shifting levels, clutch operation and braking force. Other tests include a Side Slip Test, Visual Inspection, and Water Leak Tests. But most significant is a simulation test on a first-of-its-kind 400-meter course that assesses a vehicle’s performance on different road conditions.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) was a recipient of the first annual Best Quality Award granted by Honda Motor Co., Ltd. of Japan. For its rigorous testing methods, HCPI was granted an ISO 9002 certification - an assurance of the outstanding quality of Honda automobiles.

Honda recognizes the importance of giving its contribution to society. As a corporate citizen, it is committed to pursue harmonious co-existence with the environment and the community.

Honda has invested in a multi-million peso Wastewater Treatment Facility that subjects waste water to thorough and redundant recycling and decontamination, ensuring no harmful elements are released to the environment. Geared towards protecting the community dependent on the waters of Laguna Bay, this investment has earned Honda the Macli-ing Dulag Environmental Achievement Award. To complement its Wastewater Treatment facility, a Universal Carbonizer thermal treatment system was adopted to properly treat hazardous and non-hazardous wastes before discharge. Owing to these and other measures, Honda Cars Philippines was granted an ISO 14001 certification for responsible environmental management.

Lending not only its expertise in engineering, Honda supports NGO projects and upholds the value of education. It has cultivated a training ground for Filipino engineers with engine and transmission assembly donations to technological institutions. In addition, Honda has granted full scholarship programs to its associates and students from the local community.
