Honda’s New BR-V Braves the Roads of Bataan

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda’s automobile business unit in the Philippines, recently concluded its media test drive event featuring Honda’s refreshed affordable 7-seater SUV, the New BR-V. The event highlighted the New BR-V’s updated styling and feature upgrades to select members of the motoring media with an exciting drive from Metro Manila to the scenic roads of the province of Bataan.

Prior to driving up to Bataan, the participants gathered in Bonifacio Global City where they were welcomed by a lineup of the New BR-Vs featuring both the 1.5 V CVT and 1.5 S CVT variants. This allowed them to have a closer look at the New BR-V’s refreshed exterior with its new front fascia, new 16-inch alloy w heel design and new rear bumper design. The 1.5 V CVT variant receives additional exterior updates namely the Shark Fin Antenna and LED Daytime Running Lights. All of these combine to give the New BR-V a more bold and masculine presence on the road.

The test drive event demonstrated the performance capabilities of Honda’s affordable 7-seater SUV through various road conditions. The initial drive from Manila to Bataan allowed the participants to experience the New BR-V’s powerful yet efficient drivetrain while cruising along the North Luzon Expressway and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway. Thanks to the synergy of its 1.5L SOHC i-VTEC Engine that produces 120PS of power and 145Nm of torque and its Continuously Variable Transmission, the BR-V flaunted its prowess as a capable highway cruiser.

Moreover, the participants enjoyed a pleasant ride with the scenic views along the mountain ranges and open fields of Bataan and Pampanga in the comfort of the New BR-V’s spacious interior, with its ample legroom and headroom, and its large window openings. The New BR-Vs improved Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH) further gave the participants a truly relaxing ride.

The nearly 5-hour journey also seemed shorter, as the participants were kept entertained by the New BR-V’s 7-inch touchscreen available on both variants, which allowed music streaming via Bluetooth. Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity are now also available for those in the 1.5 V CVT variant. Not only did the New BR-V’s touchscreen units entertain the participants throughout the drive, it also showcased its new reverse camera feature now available on both variants which made the maneuverability of the New BR-V more convenient when backing out of tight spaces.

The route’s highways, winding mountain roads, and light off road terrains consisting of uneven road surfaces, allowed the New BR-V to boast its Five Star ASEAN NCAP safety rating as the participants experienced the new BR-Vs handling capabilities supported by its active and passive safety features.. Standard safety features such as the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) further helped prevent over and under steering on high-speed corners. This improved the handling and maneuverability of the New BR-V throughout the drive. With 201mm of ground clearance, the New BR-V remained unscathed even with the rough roads.

The drive along the province of Bataan provided the participants an opportunity to appreciate the New BR-V and to experience the driving capabilities and ride comfort expected from every Honda vehicle. Its bold and masculine updated exterior styling, comfortable and spacious interior and cargo space, advanced features and its powerful and efficient engine, has surely made the New BR-V a very capable road trip vehicle suitable to any kind of driving situation.
